Okehampton Camp

Our team in the Wing Training Competition the Caiels Trophy came 5th out of 23 Units a major improvement on last years result.The team drew first place in the drill competition with 730 Truro Squadron. Sgt Lewis Laing won the Pace Stick Trophy as best Cadet Drill Instructor


2 cadets attended Fairbourne Adventure Training Camp 23-30 August 2018 and thoroughly enjoyed a week of varied activities.


Three cadets flew on 16th August 2018 with another four flying on 22nd August 2018. An excellent experience provided by 3 Squadron AEF pilots and ground crew.


Thank you to the cadets and staff who helped at Harrowbeer this weekend on the 11th and 12th August 2018 in poor weather .


Three cadets flew in Tutor Aircraft on Thursday 9th August 2018 All had an excellent flight taking control and performing aerobatics.


Thank you to the cadets who were able to help with the Carnival on 21 July 2018. Only three were able to come but the CO has received compliments on how smart you all were.Well Done .


22 cadets enjoyed kayaking at Lopwell on 17 July 2018 . Our thanks to Tavistock Outdoor Education Forum who provided the instructors .


8 cadets and 4 members of staff enjoyed the Yeovilton Air Show on Saturday 7th July 2018


Only 4 cadets, the CO and CI Forbes were able to attend Armed Forces Day on Plymouth Hoe on 30th June 2018 .The cadets had the honour of marching to the music of the Royal Marine Band. Cadets were addressed by the Lord Mayor of Plymouth and Honorary Group Captain Carol Vorderman. Both paid tribute to the smartness of the cadets and how much good they do in and contribute to society


Thank you to staff and cadets who helped at the Steam Fair on 3rd June 2018 . As always the organisers were most grateful.


5 new cadets were enrolled by the Sqn Chaplain Rev Martin recently.We hope they will stay with us for some time and enjoy the cadet experience.


5 cadets qualifed for the blue radio communications badge on Tuesday 20th May 2018. Well done staff and cadets .


3 cadets plus the CO flew in gliders at the Devon and Somerset Gliding Club on Friday 18th May 2018. Thank you to the club pilots and volunteers for an excellent evening.


Sgt Laing has completed his Air Cadet Pilot Scheme Course and flown solo. An excellent achievement. he was presented with his certificate by the Squadron CO.


Thank you to the 6 cadets who helped at the Dartmoor Radio Club Rally on 6/7 May 2018 Your help was much appreciated by the club members


5 cadets flew in Grob Tutor aircraft of 3 AEF during the Easter holidays at RAF St Mawgan. All experienced some aerobatics and thoroughly enjoyed their flights.


6 cadets and the CO attended the Tavistock Royal British Legion service to mark the formation of the RAF on the 1st April 1918. Their attendance was much appreciated by the RBL and public. Thank you to parents for bringing them on Easter Sunday.
